Training Course “Managing your GIS project” at the Agricultural University of Tirana

18 November 2024

From November 11 to 15, 2024, IAMO and the Agricultural University of Tirana organized the third training course in Tirana, Albania, in the frame of the project “Establishing a Geoinformation Centre for the Western Balkans” (GEO-WB6). A total of 18 course participants from five Western Balkan countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, North Macedonia and Serbia) came together in Tirana for five days to learn about the principles of managing a GIS project. In interactive group works and hands-on exercises, they were introduced to the most important aspects of collection, management, analysis and visualization of geospatial data. In groups of three persons each, the participants developed their own projects throughout the week and published them online at the end. The course also included an introduction to common formats of spatial data, geodatabases, and interpolation techniques.

The project GEO-WB6 is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) and aims to improve the continuing education and scientific exchange of university and government employees from the six Western Balkan countries in the field of geospatial data analysis. By the end of 2025, IAMO and the Agricultural University of Tirana will organize five more training courses. For further information about the project, please visit www.geo-wb6.net
